Today I made a visit to Jumpstart Preschool in Carmi, Illinois. Someone very special goes to school there -- my daughter Mazzi. This week they have been studying the letter "C". What a perfect time to visit with my Crown. We talked about Go Red and keeping our hearts healthy. We also made crowns so that everyone could wear one if they wanted. Some of the students decided that making a visor was more their personality instead of a crown. This group definitely knows who they are and what they want and that includes doing things to keep their hearts healthy!

The Illinois Baptist Children's Home held their Annual Fall Festival today. It was a very large appearance with over 1100 people attending! I met so many amazing people who support BCH. Many churches all over Illinois came to set up activity booths to show how important they believe the children who come to residential care are. The biggest event of the day was the quilt auction to raise money that will help continue the wonderful services that BCH provides. My wonderful husband was also there to support me and BCH by purchasing a beautiful quilt made by Loma Talley from Grayville, Illinois.

Today was my first appearance as Mrs. Illinois 2009. It was very special because it was something I was able to share with my oldest daughter MacKenzie. I was invited to talk with her classmates about my experience in competing in the Mrs. Illinois International Pageant and about the national platfom Go Red for Women of the American Heart Association. What a great day!

This past weekend was so very incredible. Being chosen as Mrs. Illinois International 2009 on September 13th was a dream come true. It is reality that if you set your goals and work hard you can acheive what you want in life. I am so proud to be a part of the International Pageant System and can't wait to share my passion for relationship education with everyone.
